Images of Prince Louis celebrating his fifth birthday were released on Sunday. The two images depict the young prince being pushed in a wheelbarrow by his mother and a close-up shot of him sitting in the wheelbarrow.
Prince Louis, who was born on St George’s Day in 2018, is fourth in line to the British throne after the death of Queen Elizabeth II last September. He attends the private Lambrook School near Ascot in Berkshire with his siblings, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
Unlike previous years, the photographs were taken by photographer Millie Pilkington, breaking away from the tradition of the images being taken by Catherine, the Princess of Wales. However, Catherine did release a photo of the late Queen surrounded by some of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren to mark what would have been her 97th birthday.
Prince Louis’ parents, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, have shared many images of their children over the years, often taken by Catherine, who is known to be a keen photographer. The 41-year-old royal is also the patron of the Royal Photographic Society and in 2021, she released a pandemic photography book “Hold Still” in partnership with the National Portrait Gallery.
While Prince Louis was not seen at the Queen’s state funeral at Westminster Abbey, he is expected to accompany his siblings in the procession from Westminster Abbey for the King’s coronation on 6 May, according to newspaper reports.
Overall, the release of these photographs provides an insight into the young prince’s life and growing up in the public eye as a member of the British Royal Family.
