Princess Charlotte, the only daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, turned eight years old on May 2nd, 2023. To celebrate the occasion, her mother, the Duchess of Cambridge, took an official photograph of the birthday girl at Windsor over the weekend. Charlotte’s charming gap-toothed smile and relaxed demeanor in the photo melted the hearts of royal fans worldwide.
In addition to the photo, the young princess also had an early birthday treat over the weekend when her mother took her to see the ballet Cinderella at the Royal Opera House. Charlotte, who has been mad about ballet for several years, was accompanied by several friends on the trip to the opera house in Covent Garden, central London, to see the performance of a joint production by the Royal Ballet and the National Ballet of Canada.
During the show, Charlotte and the other girls were taken on stage by Kate for photographs with the dancers. Charlotte waved an illuminated wand and briefly danced, raising her hands in an attempt to catch glitter as it fell on the stage. Kate, who has been nurturing her daughter’s love of ballet for several years, was wearing wide-leg trousers and an ivory Ghost blouse.
Princess Charlotte is third in line to the British throne, following her grandfather Prince Charles and her father Prince William. She is expected to join her siblings, Prince George and Prince Louis, at the Coronation next weekend. Despite her royal duties, Charlotte is a typical eight-year-old with a passion for gymnastics, horse riding, and other sports.
Charlotte Elizabeth Diana was born in the private Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, on May 2nd, 2015, weighing 8lbs 3oz. She attends co-educational Lambrook School in Berkshire with her siblings. Her parents have described her as sassy and full of energy, and she is often said to be the child “in charge” at home.
As Charlotte turns eight, royal fans around the world send their warm wishes to the young princess, hoping she has a happy and healthy year ahead.
