Senior members of the British royal family are reportedly avoiding meeting Prince Harry and Meghan Markle out of fear that their conversations could be made public. The family has apparently lost all trust in the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and is being extremely careful in sharing any information with them.
Meghan and Harry have been vocal about the British Monarchy’s alleged wrongdoings through documentaries, interviews, and books, leading to concerns that they may use information obtained in private conversations for their own profit.
According to royal commentator Joshua Rom, there is a sense of fear among the royal family due to the potential for leaks. “Everyone’s terrified … everything’s for sale – every indiscretion or every aside comment could be magnified for an American audience in order to get them a profit,” he said.
Rom believes that the couple will attend King Charles’s coronation to remain relevant in the eyes of those funding and consuming their other projects. “They need to continue their links to the institution; they have planned to have future projects – Meghan reportedly has a book in the works,” he added.
News Corp’s Louise Roberts previously told Sky News Australia that some members of the royal family are scared to speak to Harry and Meghan for fear that their comments will not be kept confidential. “Who knows what they’ll say after they leave the UK and go back to America after the Coronation?” she said.
The couple’s move to California has put them in a position where they could potentially become a source of leaks, with some members of the royal family feeling under threat. As a result, there is a sense of caution when it comes to interacting with them, with some royals choosing to avoid meeting them altogether.
The fear of leaks is a real concern, given the couple’s history of speaking out. However, it remains to be seen whether this will have any impact on their relationship with the royal family going forward.
