A senior member of the Pakistan cricket team has denied rumors of verbal spat and discord within the team’s dressing room after Pakistan’s last-ball loss to home team Sri Lanka in an extremely competitive contest during the Asia Cup.
According to reports in the media, a heated verbal dispute happened between Pakistan’s skipper, Babar Azam, and their leading fast bowler, Shaheen Shah Afridi, during a post-match team meeting after Pakistan’s narrow last-ball loss to home team Sri Lanka in an extremely competitive contest during the Asia Cup.
Media reports have reported that captain Babar Azam voiced dissatisfaction with the performances of some senior players, initiating Shaheen Shah Afridi to encourage Babar to praise the contributions of those who had played well. This conversation reportedly led to Mohammad Rizwan stepping in to negotiate the situation.
However, when approached for comment, a senior player from the Pakistan team denied these reports, saying, “The team’s only focus is on cricket, and we are not concerned about the critics. Losing a game provides our critics an chance to express their opinions, but these are only negative speculations.”
He went on to explain, “In the team meeting, everyone expressed their thoughts, but there is no truth to the rumors of a verbal dispute or the coaching staff needing to interfere. Everyone left the meeting together, and many team members traveled back to Pakistan on the same flight.”
