Cynthia Erivo, the acclaimed actress and star of Wicked, has her eyes on the superhero realm, specifically the iconic role of Storm, the weather-controlling mutant from Marvel’s X-Men.
During an appearance at the National Board of Review Awards Gala in New York City, Erivo opened up about her dream role. “I really want to play Storm,” the 38-year-old shared. “I know it sounds frivolous, but I think we haven’t uncovered how grand she is and all of that inner turmoil that she has. So I think there’s a world in which we could do something with that.”
Exploring Storm’s Power and Depth
Storm, also known as Ororo Munroe, is one of Marvel’s most celebrated mutants. Her incredible ability to manipulate the weather is matched by a compelling backstory. From being revered as a goddess in Africa to overcoming her claustrophobic fears rooted in childhood trauma, Storm’s narrative offers both power and vulnerability.
The character has been brought to life on the big screen by Halle Berry in the original X-Men films and Alexandra Shipp in the more recent prequels. With Disney’s acquisition of the X-Men franchise, there’s growing anticipation for Storm’s reimagined future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Competition for the Cape
