In an exclusive interview on TODAY with Al Roker, the Beverly Hills Cop star revealed he will also take on the role of George Clinton in a biopic about the legendary musician and his influential collective, Parliament-Funkadelic.

“I’m getting ready to do George Clinton,” Murphy said. “I’m getting ready to do a [biopic of] George Clinton, [his music collective] Parliament-Funkadelic.”

The film is expected to explore Clinton’s impact on funk music, his innovative artistry, and his cultural legacy.

As if that wasn’t enough, Murphy also teased his next major role: Inspector Clouseau in the upcoming reboot of The Pink Panther. Known for its slapstick comedy and quirky detective antics, the new film will reimagine the classic character in a fresh and modern take.

When asked whether Clouseau would still be French, Murphy responded humorously:

“Maybe. Well, he has to be French, but he could also be Haitian… I will tell you, he’s Black. He’s Black, for sure.”

A New Era for a Comedy Icon
