The comments were made during interactions at a Buckingham Palace event marking what would have been the 100th birthday of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

“I Have a Very Soft Voice”

Speaking with guests, the Princess of Wales reflected on the difficulties of public-facing royal duties.

“I find these environments are really hard. I’ve also got a very soft voice, so I always get told ‘Speak up a bit louder!’” she said.

Her remarks highlight the adjustments required in performing official duties that involve large crowds and formal settings.

Learning the Role Over Time

Kate has previously acknowledged that adapting to royal engagements has been a gradual process.

In the 2016 ITV documentary Our Queen at Ninety, she described walkabouts as an “art,” noting that she is often teased by family members for spending too much time speaking with the public.

She added that she continues to learn and improve her approach to official duties.

Body Language and Public Image

Royal commentator Judi James told The Mirror that Kate’s appearance at the event reflected a composed and active hosting style.

She also noted that the Princess appeared to pay subtle tribute to the late Queen through her outfit choice and presentation during the commemorative engagement.

Continuing Royal Role

As Princess of Wales, Kate continues to take on a growing number of public duties while balancing family responsibilities and ceremonial commitments within the Royal Family.

Her remarks offer a rare personal insight into the day-to-day challenges of royal public life.
