Prince Harry’s upcoming memoir, “Spare,” is set to provide an intimate look into the life of the Duke of Sussex, including some sweet anecdotes about his relationship with his father, King Charles.
One such story is about a school play that Prince Harry performed in when he was younger. The play was a Shakespearean production, and according to Prince Harry, his father was at the center of it all.
In the memoir, Prince Harry recalls how proud his father was to be there to see his son’s performance. “Opening night, my father sat dead center in a packed Farrer Theatre and no one had a better time,” he writes. “Here it was, his dream come true, a son performing Shakespeare, and he was getting his money’s worth. He roared, he howled, he applauded.”
However, Prince Harry also notes that King Charles’ timing was a bit off. “But, inexplicably, at all the wrong moments. His timing was bizarrely off. He sat mute when everyone else was laughing. He laughed when everyone else was silent,” he adds.
Despite the comedic timing mishaps, Prince Harry says that the experience of performing in front of his father was a special one. “It was a moment I will never forget, knowing that my dad was there to support me,” he writes.
Prince Harry’s memoir is set to be released in late 2022, and is expected to provide a candid look into his life, including his experiences as a member of the royal family and his decision to step back from his duties.
