Benny Blanco, the 37-year-old music producer and fiancé of Selena Gomez, has finally given in to fans’ demands and bid farewell to his signature unibrow.
On March 22, Blanco posted a TikTok video documenting his first-ever attempt at plucking the hair above his eyes. In the video, Blanco humorously zooms in on his forehead, revealing the unibrow before an esthetician starts the process. Selena can be heard in the background, encouraging him, “Do it lightly,” with a sweet reminder, “Because I love him.”
Throughout the procedure, Blanco winced and groaned, asking, “Owwww, are we almost done?” But once the final touch-up was done, he appeared unaffected, saying, “I can’t even tell the difference.”
This moment comes after Blanco has repeatedly been the subject of online commentary and jokes about his appearance, especially since going public with Gomez. The playful teasing has even made its way to the Golden Globe Awards, where comedian Nikki Glaser jokingly referenced Blanco’s looks, saying, “Selena Gomez is here, double nominee tonight! And she’s here tonight with her new fiancé, Benny Blanco, and Benny Blanco is here because of the genie who granted him that wish.”
Despite the relentless jokes, Blanco has taken the teasing in stride. Last year, during an appearance on the Whiskey Gingerpodcast, he humorously joked, “I believe that I’m actually so ugly and my features are so grotesque that I popped out the other side and now I’m just like, a hot guy.”
