The sixth installment of the Final Destination series, Final Destination: Bloodlines, serves as Todd’s final cinematic work. Diagnosed with cancer during filming, Tony Todd was given a special opportunity by directors Adam Stein and Zach Lipovsky to bring a deeply personal touch to his role. They encouraged him to deviate from the script and share his heartfelt reflections on life and mortality.
In an interview with USA Today, director Adam Stein revealed, “We asked Tony to put aside the script and just speak from the heart about what all this is about. What is life about? What is death about? What do you want the fans to come away with when they watch Final Destination? The version in the film is him speaking directly to the fans, straight from the heart.”
Todd’s poignant monologue in the film openly addresses his illness and his desire to cherish every remaining moment. In the scene, he says, “I intend to enjoy the time I have left. And I suggest you do the same. Life is precious. Enjoy every single second. You never know when…Good luck.”
