Hugh Jackman has shared a lighthearted behind-the-scenes anecdote from the set of Deadpool & Wolverine, playfully calling out his co-star and friend Ryan Reynolds for excluding him from a fun dance sequence in the upcoming Marvel blockbuster.
During his recent performance of From New York, With Love at Radio City Music Hall, the 56-year-old Wolverine actor entertained fans with a cheeky tale from filming. Jackman revealed that while he didn’t mind not being in every scene, he was surprised to learn that the one scene he wasn’t in featured a big dance number—led by Reynolds himself.
“Now that’s fine, I don’t need to be in every scene in the movie,” Jackman said on stage. “But Ryan is a writer. And when I see the script, I see that the one scene I’m not in is the opening sequence—a dance number to an NSYNC song by Ryan.”
Poking fun at Reynolds’ dance abilities, Jackman added, “Now Ryan is very talented, but dancing? There is no way I would try and match Ryan’s dance double, Nick Pauley… the guy’s like 25 years old.”
To make his point, Jackman brought his personal choreographer, Beth Lewis, on stage and wowed the crowd with his own rendition of NSYNC’s Bye Bye Bye, proving that he still has the moves.
The hilarious moment was another display of the duo’s friendly rivalry, which fans have come to love over the years.
Deadpool & Wolverine, set to be a major addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, officially hit theaters in July 2024 and has already been a massive success.
