Following the immense success of Adolescence, Jack Thorne has embarked on another ambitious venture, this time focusing on a deeply emotional and thought-provoking love story. Keeley Hawes will play the role of a nun who falls in love with a man who is also a member of the Church, creating an intense and complex dynamic.
In an interview with RTE, Thorne shared his excitement about writing a love story, a genre he never expected to delve into. “I never thought I’d write a love story, but I’m incredibly excited to create one with the brilliant director Peter Hoar,” Thorne said.
An All-Star Cast and a Powerful Storyline
Thorne’s latest project has attracted an incredible cast, with Keeley Hawes and Paapa Essiedu leading the way. Thorne expressed his gratitude for the talented actors involved, stating, “We feel so lucky to have persuaded the mighty Keeley Hawes, the brilliant Paapa Essiedu, and an amazing group of actors to join us on this journey.”
The storyline follows two hesitant lovers who are committed to their vows and the Church community. As their love deepens, they must confront the difficult question of what their relationship means for their vows, their faith, and their connection with God.
Filming is currently underway in Wales and Bristol, with Jason Watkins, Niamh Cusack, Adrian Scarborough, Susan Brown, and Sandra Voe rounding out the impressive cast.
Executive Producers and Production Details
In addition to his role as the show’s creator, Jack Thorne will serve as an executive producer for the six-part series. He is working alongside George Ormond and George Faber in the executive producer roles, with Joe Donaldson producing the show.
The title and release date for the series have yet to be revealed, but fans are already eager to see the final product.
