Meghan Markle is once again grabbing headlines following remarks many interpret as a pointed critique of the Royal Family. During a recent episode of the Aspire with Emma Grede podcast, the Duchess of Sussex was asked whether she would change anything about how her public image was handled in earlier years. Without hesitation, Meghan responded, “Yes, I would ask people to tell the truth.”
She further added, “Lies couldn’t last forever,” a statement that has fueled speculation about whom she might be referencing. While Meghan did not explicitly name anyone, royal observers suggest the comments echo past grievances she has expressed about her experience as a senior royal.
Since stepping back from their royal roles in 2020, Meghan and Prince Harry have often made headlines with candid interviews and public statements. The latest remarks seem to reignite the tensions that have long simmered between the Sussexes and other members of the Royal Family.
Royal experts have weighed in on Meghan’s current standing within the royal circle. Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told The Mirror that most senior royals now consider Meghan “irrelevant.” Bond explained, “I imagine the Royal Family might catch a fleeting headline about Meghan’s latest exploits, but I very much doubt any of them take much notice of what she says or does.”
Bond also noted Meghan’s limited time and relationships within the royal household, adding, “She was someone they knew for only a short time and didn’t forge meaningful relationships with anyone in the family except, of course, her husband.”
With these comments, it appears Meghan remains a controversial figure—facing public scrutiny while seemingly distant from the inner workings of the royal family.
