In an exclusive interview with WSJ. Magazine, NFL star Travis Kelce has lifted the veil on the unexpected and intriguing story of how his romance with pop sensation Taylor Swift unfolded. Contrary to typical celebrity love stories involving grand gestures, Kelce shared that a mysterious cupid within Swift’s inner circle played a pivotal role in bringing them together.
Kelce disclosed, “There were definitely people she knew that knew who I was, in her corner [who said]: ‘Yo! Did you know he was coming?’ I had somebody playing Cupid.”
Initially oblivious to the matchmaker’s identity, Kelce’s fortunes changed when he received a surprising text from Swift expressing her interest.
While the identity of the cupid remains undisclosed, Kelce later received a behind-the-scenes account of how luck favored him. “[The Cupid] told me exactly what was going on and how I got lucky enough to get [Swift] to reach out,” Kelce shared.
In a surprising twist, Kelce also revealed that members of Swift’s family unintentionally played a role in their budding romance. Recounting an amusing incident, he divulged, “She’ll probably hate me for saying this, but … when she came to Arrowhead [Stadium], they gave her the big locker room as a dressing room, and her little cousins were taking pictures … in front of my locker.”
Addressing speculation about their first date being at a Kansas City Chiefs game in September, Kelce clarified that they had already shared a dinner before their public appearance in the suite. “When I met her in New York, we had already kind of been talking, so I knew we could have a nice dinner and, like, a conversation, and what goes from there will go from there,” Kelce explained.
