King Charles III attended the highly anticipated Gladiator II premiere at the Odeon Luxe in Leicester Square without his wife, Queen Camilla, who has been advised to reduce her public engagements due to a chest infection. The King, however, made his solo appearance a memorable one as he mingled with the star-studded cast of the film.

Among the notable figures the King met were Denzel Washington, Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, and Connie Nielsen, as well as the film’s acclaimed director, Sir Ridley Scott. King Charles engaged in light-hearted exchanges with the cast, including a playful interaction with Mescal, who introduced himself as Lucius in the film.

In a moment of friendly banter, Denzel Washington, known for his calm demeanor, joked with the King, asking, “I didn’t know if I was supposed to grab you,” before assuring him, “I’m doing my best.” The King responded with a smile, teasing, “Are you playing someone terrible?” Washington, ever charming, replied, “I’m a lovely man, you’ll see.” The King complimented the actor, acknowledging his extensive film career with, “You’ve been in so many films, fantastic.”

King Charles also shared warm moments with young fans Kaitlyn Coleman, 7, and Sophie Alger, 4, who gave him a brochure and flowers. His Majesty took the time to converse with the girls, adding a personal touch to his visit.

The King’s attendance at the event was a highlight of the evening, marking his continued involvement in public duties despite Queen Camilla’s current health situation. While her absence was noted, King Charles’ warm interactions with the cast and the public showcased his natural charm and commitment to royal duties.
