Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan has broken the South African batsman Hashim Amla’s record after scoring his 19th ODI hundred and became the fastest player to score his 19 ODI centuries in 102 innings while Amla did it in his 104th inning.

In the first match of the Asia Cup 2023 against new-coming Nepal, Azam achieved this milestone and became the fastest player to score 19 tons in 102 innings in ODI format.

It is worth noting that Pakistan’s skipper came to the crease after Pakistan’s team collapsed in the first powerplay as Fakhar Zaman and Imam-Ul-Haq lost their wickets under the first powerplay.

But the World’s No.1 Batsman stood tall on the crease and made an important 86-run partnership with Mohammad Rizwan after the wicketkeeper-batsman lost his wicket in the runout.

After Rizwan’s wicket, Salman Agha didn’t last long in the crease as he handed his wicket to Sandeep Lamichhane while trying a reverse-sweep shot.

Babar made a solid partnership with Iftikhar Ahmed and by the moment the story was filed, Babar was at 131, and Iftikhar was at 68.

Innings taken to score 19 centuries:
Babar Azam: 102
Hashim Amla: 104
Virat Kohli: 124
David Warner: 139
AB de Villiers: 171

It must be notable that Babar also broke Amla’s (5165) record of scoring the most runs in 102 innings as Babar scored 5353 runs while Amla scored 5165 in his 102 innings.
