The International Cricket Council (ICC) determined to ban the serial pitch invader “Jarvo 69” on Sunday after he breached security and intruded on the pitch during the India-Australia ICC World Cup 2023 encounter in Chennai.
The infamous pitch invader breached the security fences and occurred on the field moments after the Indian team took their fielding positions.
He was then accompanied out of the ground by the officials along with India’s Virat Kohli.
The incident, however, was not taken lightly by the international regulatory body which did not take long before responding to this security breach.
“The individual concerned has been banned from attending any further games at the event and the matter is in the hands of the Indian authorities,” an ICC spokesperson said when the Press Trust of India (PTI) enquired about the breach.
ICC spokesperson’s statement to PTI read, “The safety and security of everyone involved in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 is our priority. We will work with the venue to understand what happened and consider if any additional security measures are required to prevent it happening again.”
It must be noted that Jarvo is a serial pitch invader who has seen his way past the ground’s security several times, not just in cricket but also during other sports games.
He has already been barred from the English grounds after he intruded on the field several times during India’s tour to England in 2021.
However, this was his first intruded on an Indian venue which turned out to be the last as he is no longer permitted to visit any Indian stadium.
“Jarvo 69” also has a YouTube channel with more than 180,000 subscribers where he publishes videos of himself intruding on the playing area of different sports.
